Subaru Impreza sti
Highs: Acceleration, agility, braking, ride, four-door practicality, controls.
Lows: Automatic climate control modulation, reliability.
The Impreza's engine provides adequate acceleration, but the four-speed automatic isn't as slick as those from some competitors. The standard AWD hurts fuel economy and performance. Its 24 mpg overall for the sedan is low for a small car. The ride is commendably compliant and handling remains agile. The cabin is relatively roomy, particularly the rear seats. Most models are available in hatchback form. The WRX and STI are sportier, high-performance versions with turbocharged engines and stiffer suspensions. Standard ESC and good IIHS crash-test scores are big pluses. A redesigned Impreza is due this fall.
2011 Subaru Impreza wrx Review
The new Impreza WRX has a wider front and rear. It is also fitted with 17-inch alloy rims matched with 235/45R17 tires. Indeed the 2011 WRX is ready to pounce on the road compared to its older sibling. The 4-door and the hatchback versions still sport the turbocharged 2.5L engine that can give out 265 horsepower. The engine is couped with a manual gearbox with a 5-speed configuration. The wider body resulted to additional 33 pounds but it really doesn’t affect the performance of the car. The sedan will be 6.5 inches longer and logically offers more storage space than the hatchback version. The design team also injected sharper bumper corners, wider fog lamps that are blacked out to blend well with the new profile. Some aerodynamic features were also added like the front spoiler on the lower lip.
